Jay Cutler has a true gunslinger mentality that leads to extreme volatility

Jay would come out in the first half and sometimes throw four or five touchdowns, and then something would happen, and he'd throw four or five picks in the second half. So whatever that switch is that gets flipped, man, once it goes, he just starts firing the ball all over the place. But that's what makes him great. He's the true gunslinger mentality.

This is a widely held subjective view of Cutler's career that matches his statistical profile.

Pardon My Take has more listeners than Bill Simmons

We have over 40 million listeners in six months. That's crazy... I'm just going to say it's more than Simmons. Yeah, it's more than [Bill] Simmons.

While PMT became the #1 sports podcast, 40 million listeners in the first 6 months of 2016 is an extreme exaggeration of unique listeners compared to established stars like Simmons at that time.

Trevor Siemian is the Tim Tebow of the 2016 Denver Broncos

I don't even care that Trevor Siemian is the starting quarterback. Every game he's been in, they've won. Absolutely. So he's the Tim Tebow of the Denver Broncos this year.

Siemian went 8-6 as a starter in 2016, a respectable winning record for a first-year starter, echoing the Tebow-esque 'he just wins' narrative briefly.

Buying a Pardon My Take shirt makes you a part-owner of Larry the Goldfish

If you buy a Pardon My Take shirt, you are an owner of Larry [the Goldfish] like the Green Bay Packers, except you actually own something, not fake own it.

The 'ownership' is symbolic/satirical for marketing purposes and does not grant actual legal ownership of the goldfish or its winnings.

The Baylor football program should be past the Art Briles scandal because they 'cleaned house'

I guess I thought we were past the whole Art Briles kind of... The rape scandal, I feel like when you clean house, aren't you past, like, yeah, it's a horrible thing that happened, but they cleaned everybody out.

This is a subjective opinion on the ethics of program rebuilding and accountability.

Bob Stoops quit on the Oklahoma football team

I don't know Bob Stoops. He left. He quit on the team.

Stoops retired in June 2017 after 18 seasons; while he left the team, characterizing it as 'quitting' is a subjective framing of a standard retirement.

Greg Schiano will be recruited away from Ohio State to be a head coach in the next year or two

Schiano's going to be gone in a year or two. He's going to be recruited away and become a head coach, especially if Ohio State's defense has the success that they're projecting.

Schiano was famously almost hired by Tennessee in late 2017 but the deal was nixed. He stayed at Ohio State until 2018 and didn't become a head coach again until returning to Rutgers in 2020.
