The Ravens fleeced themselves by giving Lamar Jackson $185 million guaranteed

Lamar Jackson is still a Raven... he got 185 million guaranteed. That's a lot of money to guarantee to a running back. And I mean the Ravens kind of, they fleeced themselves on that one. Like who? Nobody in their right mind was gonna trade anything worth anything for that guy.

Hot TakeFootballFireSarcastic
Lamar Jackson won the NFL MVP in 2023, the first year of this deal, making the 'fleece' take look objectively incorrect.

Draft Day would be one of the worst movies ever if it didn't have real NFL logos

Draft Day would be maybe one of the worst movies of all time if it didn't have the rights to the exact NFL logos and team names. If they had to make up like a fake NFL league, that movie would suck. Turns out that it rocks because it's like, oh, I recognize the Browns logo.

The movie's popularity is highly tied to its authenticity as an NFL-branded product, supporting the claim.

Drafting a quarterback in the first round gives a fan base a one-year pass to ignore all negatives

Drafting a quarterback in the first round really does give you a new pep in your step lease on life where you're like, we have at least a year to just only look at the positive and ignore all the negatives. Even if he sucks for half of those games, you could still be like, well, you saw how good he was in that one game.

This is a recurring theme in Big Cat's philosophy regarding rookie quarterbacks and fan expectations.

I'm officially out on all Big 12 defensive players

Tyree Wilson to the Raiders, I just, I'm bust all Big 12 defensive players. If you're a defensive player [from the Big 12], I would not touch you in the first round.

Being 'out on all Big 12 defensive players' in the NFL draft is a broad subjective stance about a conference's defensive talent. Some Big 12 defenders have contributed in the NFL.

Arm length doesn't matter for a tackle as long as the quarterback doesn't have tiny hands

Arm length doesn't always dictate everything. If you have a guy that's got short arms that's playing tackle, it's not the end of the world unless maybe you also have a quarterback with tiny hands, in which case it's like synergy factors. Right. Where if the guy with short arms can't block the guy and then the guy with tiny hands gets hit, more likely to fumble.

Whether specific arm length correlates to fumbles based on QB hand size is largely theoretical and difficult to prove or disprove.

You should never order appetizers at a steakhouse to maximize your sides

I'm of the mindset now that you don't need any appetizers at steakhouses. It's, it's a good place to run Zero apps... You don't need the calamari at a steakhouse... The sides at a steakhouse are elite. The mashed potatoes are always elite... mac and cheese always elite at a steakhouse, you wanna maximize your sides to go with a steak.

This is entirely a matter of personal dining preference.

Trent Williams is the rare offensive lineman who is actually fun to watch play

Trent Williams is a joy to have on your team. He's just a fucking bully. He's also the rare offensive lineman where you have fun watching him play. Like after the ball was snapped, my eyes would just go to Trent Williams because it's like this guy, we might throw an interception, but Trent Williams might punch a guy in the throat.

This is a subjective opinion about entertainment value.
