Lincoln Riley and Brian Kelly moved because it's easier to win a national title at USC and LSU

I really do think both of these moves were about finding a place where it's easier to win the national title than where you're at. ... This is more about winning the playoff than getting in the playoff because you have two guys who could get in the playoff, but couldn't win it.

The take is subjective analysis of coaching intent, but the results (rebuilding USC and winning early at LSU) support the idea that these programs have higher 'ceilings'.

The Washington Football Team is 'good-ish' and trending toward being a genuinely good team

I actually think that if you're talking about the entire teams of this show, we are the Roy G. Biv, we're the colors of the rainbow in terms of football teams. ... I think the Washington football team is good-ish. ... I do think the Washington football team, if they are good, they are not good like yet. I think if they win next week... they're good. Good-ish trending towards good.

The 2021 Washington team finished 7-10 and missed the playoffs, failing to sustain the 'good-ish' momentum.

Russell Wilson is no longer a top five NFL quarterback

It's just very bizarre to me that like Russell Wilson, he's not a top five quarterback right now. ... If you're talking about like the guys that are difference makers weekend and week out, he's not that. He hasn't been that for a little bit right now.

Russell Wilson's performance continued to fluctuate and eventually led to a disastrous trade to Denver, confirming he had fallen from the elite top-5 tier.

I would rather have Taylor Heinicke on my team moving forward than Russell Wilson

I would rather have Taylor Heinicke on my team right now, moving forward than Russell Wilson, which it sounds insane to say, especially thinking back like four or five weeks ago when he looked so bad, but he's, he's legitimately fun to watch.

Heinicke had a decent run but never became a franchise starter, whereas Wilson, despite his Denver struggles, remains a much more accomplished and generally more valuable asset, making this a classic PMT 'of-the-moment' hot take.

A 10-2 Kentucky would make the playoff

If Kentucky's 10 and two, they're making the playoffs. So it—there's not really a style point situation that they've gotta worry about. They just have to keep winning.

Kentucky's final record and whether a 10-2 season earns a playoff berth are not yet resolved.

BYU could make the playoff without winning the Big 12

I don't know that BYU has to win the Big 12 now to make the playoff. If you have a 12-and-0 Texas Tech and they beat BYU in the Big 12 championship game and hand them, let's say, their second loss, they're both getting in.

The Big 12 standings, championship result, and playoff selection have not yet been determined.

The 24-team playoff will not kill college football

I do not think this is gonna kill the sport. I don't think it's gonna kill the regular season.

Whether expansion harms the sport and regular-season interest is a long-term evaluative question, not a single objectively settled result.
