The NFL return of Kyle Long is a bad look for the Chicago Bears

Kyle Long will be returning to the NFL. Not to the Bears. But that's why they're on the hot seat, because he doesn't want to go back to them. I don't think it's a good or bad look. I think it's just the Bears.

Long signed with the Chiefs, not the Bears. He had previously been vocal about his issues with the Bears' coaching/management.

The Washington Football Team paid for Twitter bots to praise Dan Snyder

I started to notice that over the last two days, there were a shitload of accounts that had been created in October of 2020 that were all tweeting things about Dan Snyder. It'll shock you to find out that there are more than likely hundreds of bots that were all created around the same time to just heap praise on Dan Snyder. Dan Snyder, essentially, somebody in the Redskins organization paid for a shitload of Twitter bots to just do nothing all day but tweet praise for Dan Snyder.

It was later confirmed through investigative reporting (including from the Washington Post) that Snyder used bot farms and coordinated PR attacks.

Big Ben Roethlisberger taking a pay cut is the ultimate 'hero ball' move.

This might be my favorite Big Ben move ever because he took a pay cut... But he signed a big money contract knowing he was going to get paid like $40 million when he was very old and at the end of his career. And now he's hero ball, going to take a pay cut on the contract that he signed to get paid a ton of money when he was really old. This is the greatest thing that Big Ben has ever done.

The pay cut was widely viewed as a necessary move for the Steelers to keep him, but Big Cat's framing of it as 'hero ball' is a subjective characterization of Ben's personality.

Steelers fans should not be excited about Big Ben Roethlisberger returning for another year.

If I was a Steelers fan, I would not be super thrilled about another year of Big Ben.

The 2021 season was Roethlisberger's last; he threw for 22 TDs and 10 INTs as the Steelers went 9-7-1 and were blown out in the Wild Card round.

The NFL salary cap doesn't actually matter.

Basically, [the salary cap] doesn't matter... teams will go from under $20 million over the cap to magically, oh, they have a bunch of cap space.

While it's a hard cap, restructures and 'void years' make it extremely flexible, supporting the spirit of the take.

Trevor Lawrence is just a 6'6" version of Tate Martell who has kept a 'mirage' going.

My take about Trevor Lawrence is that he is basically Tate Martell. But since he's taller, because Tate Martell undefeated in high school, greatest quarterback recruit ever, the only difference is Trevor Lawrence is 6'6", not 5'11", and he's been able to keep the mirage up.

Trevor Lawrence became the #1 pick and a Pro Bowler, while Tate Martell's career ended with minimal playing time. Lawrence was a legitimate top-tier talent, not a 'mirage.'

Mac Jones has the most promise of any quarterback in the 2021 draft class.

I think Mac Jones actually has the biggest promise out of all of them because he's not going to go to one of the top draft pick teams... He's going to go to a team that has a pretty good established team but needs a quarterback.

Mac Jones went to the Patriots and made the Pro Bowl as a rookie, performing better than Lawrence/Wilson initially, but has since regressed and been traded.

My hot seat is the 16-game schedule for the NFL because it looks like we're going to 17. And my cool throw will be the 18-game schedule because as soon as we go to 17, we're going to go to 18. It's the greatest, like, sleight of hand that the NFL is doing here.

NFL quarterbacks are beginning to dictate their trade destinations like NBA stars

The quarterbacks in the NFL, like we're starting to see similar to, you know, all stars or top 10 guys in the NBA being able to, especially essentially dictate where they go, even while under contract that's now happening with quarterbacks in the NFL. And we're kind of just getting to that point where people are starting to realize it because think about it. I think that he threw the Bears in there as kind of throwing a bone for the Seahawks because he knows that if the Bears are in the discussion, his trade value goes up. And so that means that other teams would be able to give a little bit more money.

The Eagles are the biggest losers of the Carson Wentz trade

The biggest losers being the Philadelphia Eagles, I would say. I would frame it in the context of the Eagles traded for him to draft him. Then they gave him a ton of money. Then they also gave him a ton of money and $33 million against the cap, and their franchise quarterback that they thought they had traded for and everything was hunky-dory is now gone.
