Wrexham's three consecutive promotions are a first in the history of English football

It's been wild. I mean, it's never, it's never happened before in the history of English football. No team has ever gone back to back to back. And that's, that's what we did this past year.

While a massive achievement, it is factually incorrect that no team has ever done it; teams like Northampton Town (1960-63) and Luton Town (2014-19) have achieved similar or better streaks of consecutive promotions.

CONCACAF is rigged to ensure the United States doesn't win the Gold Cup

I join the chorus of those who were saying CONCACAF rigged. They don't want to see the United States win the Gold Cup. They'd much rather have it be Mexico.

Mexico beat the US 2-1 in the 2025 Gold Cup Final, adding fuel to the CONCACAF conspiracy fire.

Ecuadorian players were paid off by the Qatari government to throw the opening World Cup match

I saw a tweet from a reporter that said that Ecuadorian players were getting paid off by the Qatari government to, you know, to let, let the Qatar [win]... they said it end [1-0] after the end of the second half.

Ecuador won the opening match 2-0; the rumor of a Qatari bribe was debunked and proved to be false.

Artificial turf is safer for professional soccer players than real grass

It's way safer for the players.

Scientific consensus and studies by the NFLPA and others generally show a higher rate of non-contact injuries on turf compared to natural grass.

The MLS is a Ponzi scheme

I don't understand how they can keep adding teams. It is a Ponzi scheme. Because you just pay the existing owners and the talent isn't there to keep up.

While it operates on expansion fees, it's a legal business structure for a sports league, making 'Ponzi scheme' a satirical exaggeration.

US Soccer audited finances prove the women players earn more than the men

My hot seat is people who think U.S. soccer is sexist and doesn't pay the women enough. Because our good friend DR came out with a tweet today where he showed that the women – U.S. soccer responded for the first time ever with what shows that their independently audited finances that show that their women players actually earn more than the men.

The USSF did release an open letter claiming women earned $34M compared to men's $26M from 2010-2018, but the USWNT disputed this by noting the men have more games and the payment structures (guaranteed vs. bonus-heavy) make a direct comparison difficult. The lawsuit eventually settled in 2022 with a massive payment to the women.

The United States is on its longest World Cup unbeaten streak since the Reagan administration

This is the longest World Cup unbeaten streak that we're on right now since the Reagan administration. It's been over four years since the United States has lost a World Cup game.

Fact ClaimSoccerMediumSarcastic
The US last lost a WC game in July 2014 to Belgium. Since they didn't qualify in 2018, they remained 'unbeaten' by default for over four years. It is factually true but contextually absurd.

Russia is definitely doping and FIFA is choosing to ignore it

Russia's doping and FIFA doesn't care. There's a report that came out that basically the entire team doped in 2014, the entire team's doping now, and FIFA has actually gotten the documents and been like, eh, we'll just let this one slide.

Extensive reports (including the McLaren Report) detailed Russian doping, but official FIFA investigations into the 2018 squad specifically did not result in sanctions during the tournament.

The Sounders and Timbers only play each other in MLS

I feel like the Sounders and Timbers only play each other. I'm convinced that MLS was like, hey, you guys in the Pacific Northwest, you tend to enjoy your scarves and your soccer. Just play each other all the time. We'll pretend like it's an MLS game, but it's not real.

The teams play other teams in the league, even though their rivalry is the most highlighted.

FIFA is a dependable and trustworthy organization

FIFA? Yeah. FIFA is very clear on [shady betting]. They don't like people making money via shady means at all. Exactly. That's an organization that you can depend on.

Fact ClaimSoccerHotSarcastic
Given the literal claim, this is incorrect as FIFA has been involved in numerous high-profile corruption scandals.

I own a piece of Swansea City AFC

You and I are both owners of Swansea... I own like 0.08% of 1%. I'm part of one of the groups that bought Swansea.

Dan Katz (Big Cat) did indeed purchase a very small minority stake in Swansea City as part of the American ownership group led by Jason Levien and Steve Kaplan.

People in Portugal speak 'Brazilian' which is why they are good at soccer

People forget that they speak Brazilian in Portugal... The two best soccer teams in the world, Brazil and Portugal, both speak Brazilian. So it makes you wonder, like, maybe more countries should start speaking Brazilian if they want to master the beautiful game.

The language is Portuguese, not 'Brazilian'. Brazil was a colony of Portugal.
