Labor Day is coming late this year, and Big Cat is already feeling the football withdrawal. Max is heading off on a two-week honeymoon, but before he leaves, we have a massive Friday show to bridge the gap. Hank kicked things off with some truly alarming "stats" from the Eagles-Patriots joint practices that have the Philadelphia fans in the building sweating through their shirts.
Jalen Hurts has thrown roughly 25 interceptions in the last two days of training camp
Jalen Hurts first down 25 interceptions. Roughly. By my calculations. Just in the last two days.
Max is already trying to emotionally distance himself from the season before it even starts, citing the sloppy play as a sign of things to come in the NFC East.
The Eagles are going to be bad this year if training camp is any indication
I'm opting out of all Training Camp Updates for the rest of the summer. Because if training camp has any indication, the Eagles are gonna be bad this year.
PFT immediately identified this as a "Max Cope" situation, arguing that the negative headlines might actually be the fuel Jalen Hurts needs to get back to his MVP form.
Jalen Hurts will go off this season because of the disrespect he is receiving
I really hate the disrespect that Jalen Hurts is getting this preseason. The fact that everybody is doubting him. That's, I think that that's very, very bad for me as an Eagles hater. I feel like he's about to go off this season.
The International Takeover and Dodgers Drama
Hank and Mike Florio have apparently teamed up to become Roger Goodell's favorite foot soldiers. While the rest of us are worried about the integrity of the game, Hank is banging the drum for a 40-team league with divisions in places like Malaysia and Japan. Big Cat sees the writing on the wall, and it involves a lot more regular season games and a lot less rest.
The NFL will eventually expand to 40 teams playing a 20-game regular season with no preseason
I think we're going to have 40 teams playing 20 games with no preseason. That's where this is headed.
Hank, of course, defended the move by looking at the "big picture," which apparently just means more hours of football for him to produce.
An international NFL team is great for the fans and the league's growth
I think it's great for for us, and I think it's great for the league. Again, like I, I'm looking big picture here. I'm looking at, at our fans, at our, our, the potential for growth. It's great. You're gonna get football at all hours all all the time.
The conversation shifted to the MLB, where things are getting incredibly weird for the Dodgers. Mark Walter is under investigation for some serious white-collar creative accounting, and Big Cat thinks the house of cards might be about to fall.
The Dodgers might be forced to sell the team due to Mark Walter's financial investigations
He basically has just been taking out loans from his own business and running like a, a not a Ponzi scheme. ... Turns out he had, he's been spending money that he doesn't have and I feel like he might have to sell the Dodgers because he's got a check for like 20 billion coming due that he might not have and that's why he's like ripping off sales of his assets.
If the allegations are true, it means the Dodgers have been playing with monopoly money to buy championships, which Big Cat argues is a deeper stain on the game than any trash can banging in Houston.
Mark Walter using 'monopoly money' to buy Dodgers championships is worse than the Astros cheating scandal
Mark Walter, if this is true and he was basically doing like white collar crime to buy championships. I honestly think it might be worse than the Astros.
Mount Rushmore of Skills We Could Master Overnight
We went to a 1v1v1 setup for this week's Mount Rushmore because Big Cat, Max, and Memes have already clinched safety from the basement. The topic: skills you genuinely believe you could master if you just stayed up all night practicing. Zach took a very literal approach to the draft, selecting professional trades that he thinks are actually just simple repetition.
I could fully master the skill of grave digging in a single night
I'm going to take grave digging. ... I just think there's, or no, that just seemed like a, a skill. It's a profession. ... You put it down as like a skill you have.
Big Cat took the disrespectful route, claiming that entire artistic professions and languages are basically just 24 hours of focus away from being conquered.
I could master photography in a single night
Photography. Easily. I think you could learn Spanish overnight. We also had code to code. Very simple. Extremely simple.
PFT rounded things out by targeting the music industry, specifically the guys who get paid six figures to stand behind a laptop at a festival.
DJing is just 'pressing play' and can be mastered overnight
I had one disrespectful thing on here. I didn't take it. DJing. DJing. Press play. Boom.
Max Strus Joins the Show
Max Strus joined us in studio (taped Tuesday, before he was officially moved to the Clippers) to talk about the weirdness of hearing your name in trade rumors while trying to run a charity pickleball tournament. He gave us a look behind the curtain at "Heat Culture," which apparently involves a lot of calipers and being harassed about your weight immediately after showering.
The standard in Miami is that players cannot exceed 10% body fat
You gotta have body, your body fat's gotta be in touch. It can't be over 10% body fat. The strength coach is like right outta the showers, like step on the scale. They bring out the caliper on you guys.
Strus also touched on his legendary shooting range, confirming that when the defense is off, he’s basically a flamethrower in the gym.
We did a quick tour around the league, where Max gave some "hints" about the Wizards and PFT reminded everyone that the franchise hasn't actually been relevant since the Nixon administration.
The Washington Wizards haven't won 50 games in a season since the three-point line was invented
You know how long it's been since they won 50 games? Since they invented the three point line. ... John Wall and Brad Beal never won 50. I think they got 49.
Before letting him go, Max gave a vote of confidence to the Raptors and Scottie Barnes, despite the fact that Max once technically headbutted him with a man-bun.
The Raptors are on a trajectory to be a very good team soon
I think the Raptors... I think Scottie Barnes is a very good basketball player and he's gonna be very good for a long time. So yeah, I just think that they're, they're moving right around the trajectory of where they should be going and where they're gonna be good.
We finished up with Fyre Fest of the week, featuring Hank almost getting phished by his own mother and Zach revealing that his neighbors are currently training for the Olympic sex team.
Good luck on the honeymoon Max, try not to think about Jalen Hurts throwing picks while you're in Italy.
