Collin Morikawa, NBA Playoffs, and the Greatest Shot in Disc Golf History
Big Cat and PFT Commenter are grappling with the reality of Atlanta sports after Trae Young suffered a freak injury by stepping on a ref's foot. While Trae tried to pull a Willis Reed, it was the Khris Middleton legacy game that stole the show as he outscored the entire Hawks team in the fourth quarter.
The Hawks can only beat the Bucks if Kevin Huerter has an unconscious game
I also think it's going to be very tough for the Hawks to win [the series] unless you have a Kevin Huerter is unconscious game. If Red Velvet's unconscious, then you have a chance... But if you don't get him involved, then, like, what?
Big Cat isn't ready to eulogize the Hawks just yet, but the writing is on the wall if they can't find a way to stop the Bucks' secondary scoring.
The Bucks will win the series against the Hawks in five or six games
I do think the Bucks are going to win this series in five or six. But... you know, who knows? Trae Young. You just got to say Trae Young at the end of everything nice you say about a Hawks opponent.
Over in the West, the Suns and Clippers played one of the ugliest second halves of basketball in recent memory. Between Chris Paul looking gassed and Paul George returning to his "Playoff P" roots at the free-throw line, the guys were begging for the final buzzer. The constant reviews for out-of-bounds plays turned the final two minutes into a forty-minute saga, prompting a radical suggestion for the future of the league.
Sports would be better if we got rid of replay entirely
What if we just got rid of replay in every sport? I feel like we've gone so far in the direction of getting it right to the point where we're getting it wrong... I enjoy sports more when we're not taking all these positives... What if we just stopped reviewing everything in the NFL?
PGA Champion Collin Morikawa
In-person interviews are back, and 2020 PGA Champion Collin Morikawa stopped by the studio to talk about life on the tour. Collin broke down the process of turning pro, which is apparently as simple as someone handing you a dollar for a round of golf. He also addressed the viral moment at the Memorial where he swung and completely missed the ball in the deep rough, a moment Big Cat found deeply relatable even if it did cost Collin a massive payday.
Anthony Davis is a real Laker while LeBron James is a mercenary
This LeBron thing has kind of grown on me a little bit... He's a mercenary, though. [Anthony Davis], real Laker. That guy's a real fucking Laker.
Collin, a noted Cal guy, discussed his relationship with fellow alum Max Homa and his thoughts on the ongoing Brooks vs. Bryson feud. While he tried to remain neutral, he couldn't help but notice that Brooks seems to stay two steps ahead in the mental game. Big Cat also made a solemn vow regarding his Sunday wardrobe that depends entirely on the health of a golf legend.
I will wear red every Sunday until Tiger Woods returns to golf
I always wear red every Sunday. Every Sunday until Tiger's back. I'm going to catch you. That's a fact. I've been doing it since he got hurt. Months. Yeah, months and months.
Banging Chains and Cinema
Who's Back of the week featured a legendary moment in disc golf history. James Conrad's 247-foot birdie to force a playoff at the World Championships had the guys ready to crown a new king of clutch. PFT wasn't just impressed; he was ready to put the throw up against any highlight in the history of mainstream sports.
James Conrad's disc golf shot is the most clutch play in the history of any sport
I actually think that this is the most clutch play ever in the history of any sport. Name me a better shot than this... That shot was awesome.
Cinema is also back thanks to *F9* crushing the box office. PFT and Big Cat debated the merits of the *Fast and Furious* franchise, with PFT offering a very specific recommendation for the optimal viewing experience of Vin Diesel's latest masterpiece.
Fast and Furious is the best movie franchise to watch while stoned
I don't think that there's a franchise of movies that's better to watch stoned in your entirety than Fast and the Furious.
Hot Seat/Cool Throne
Damian Lillard is on the Hot Seat as reports swirl that he might finally be looking for an exit from Portland. Big Cat thinks the loyalty era is over, but PFT is worried about the potential fit if Dame ends up chasing a ring with the King in Los Angeles.
Damian Lillard would not play well with LeBron James
I actually don't think that he [Lillard] would play well with LeBron. I mean, they would just win a title. But it wouldn't be fun for me to watch personally. No, it wouldn't be fun for anyone.
Finally, the guys touched on the heartbreak of NC State being removed from the College World Series due to COVID protocols. Big Cat isn't letting a little thing like a forfeit stop him from recognizing the true champions of Omaha.
NC State are the real national champions of college baseball
NC State got screwed. Wolfpack are my national champions. They actually did a parade, and they had everyone come to the stadium. They said, we're the national champs. If UCF can do it, why can't NC State?
If you see a guy with slicked-back hair in a blue checkered shirt offering you stock tips outside a restaurant, just keep walking.
