The Bears are not Super Bowl contenders even if they trade for Carson Wentz

Something's afoot, and I would like to stem the tide. I don't think I can, but it feels like something's afoot here because the Bears are not a Super Bowl contender with Carson Wentz, especially not with giving up a first-round pick for him.

Wentz was traded to the Colts, not the Bears. However, Big Cat's assessment of Wentz not being a Super Bowl-caliber savior proved correct in Indianapolis.

Coach K’s empire at Duke is officially crumbling

We're totally sidetracking that Duke is—the whole entire empire is crumbling, Hank. Coach K has nothing. He has nothing left.

Duke finished 13-11 in 2021 and missed the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1995. Coach K retired a year later.

Jalen Johnson is a quitter for opting out of the Duke season

[Jalen Johnson] is a quitter. However, as a Dookie, a diehard Cameron Crazy runs in my blood... If they had a shot, even a chance—they're clearly not going to make the tournament. They're terrible this year. If it was like they were even a bubble team or close to a bubble team and he quit now, it'd be like, alright, fuck this guy forever.

Johnson literally did quit the team mid-season, so the factual part is correct; the value judgment is subjective.

Kyle Trask is Kirk Cousins with Tom Brady upside

I'm working on Kyle Trask right now... I'm thinking Kirk Cousins... That's a mid-level. Tom Brady upside.

Trask has been a career backup and has not shown Tom Brady-level talent or even Kirk Cousins-level starting consistency.

The Chargers' game against the Raiders is a must-win

The Chargers might have the most must-win game of all time playing the Raiders with the schedule they have. If they don't win this week, it's over.

The Chargers' season outcome and whether the loss effectively ended their season had not been resolved at the time of the episode.

Texas won; Ohio State choked

I'll say Texas win, Ryan Day choke. The play calling, I don't know, maybe they got too conservative. I think they probably did.

This is a retrospective interpretation of the game rather than a purely objective claim; assigning primary blame is subjective.

Oregon is probably out if it loses to USC

The USC game will be massive. If Oregon loses that game, they're probably out.

Oregon's playoff status after the USC game was still unresolved at the time of the episode.
