The Florida Panthers will win the Stanley Cup in six games

Right now I have Florida and six. Right. I think that overall they have the better team... Florida is expected to be there. They have the goal tending, they have more depth on defense. They're overall better on defense.

The Florida Panthers did win the Stanley Cup, but it took seven games, not six.

The Dallas Stars will beat the Colorado Avalanche in 7 games

I got Dallas in seven again... I think that Dallas, who's a Stanley Cup team can get to the finals because they gotta go through the juggernaut, which was the Vegas Golden Knights.

The Stars beat the Avalanche in 6 games, not 7.

The Rangers' status as a juggernaut is a direct result of Tom Wilson's hit on Artemi Panarin

The Rangers turned around their entire franchise a couple years ago when Tom Wilson in a horrifying act of violence threw Panarin into the ground... They fired their entire front office after that because they realized that they were a soft hockey team. Since that moment, the Rangers have turned it around.

It is a commonly held theory in hockey media that the Wilson incident served as a wake-up call for the Rangers to get 'tougher,' leading to the Chris Drury era.

If the Maple Leafs get swept, everyone will get fired and a major player will be traded

I think if they get swept every single guy is getting gassed and maybe one of the big guys getting traded. Complete implosion. I think that if they get swept, everybody's gone.

The Leafs lost in five games (not a sweep). GM Kyle Dubas was fired/let go, but the 'Core Four' players remained on the roster through the siguiente season.

Connor McDavid is so fast he doesn't even get tired on the ice

I honestly don't think he even gets tired. ... He's just so fast. ... And the dual threat of being one of the best passers in the league and now having the ability to score kind of whenever you want, is just taking his game through the roof.

McDavid consistently leads the league in average time on ice for forwards, supporting the claim of elite endurance.

The Dallas Stars and Florida Panthers will meet in the Stanley Cup Finals

In the beginning before playoffs, I had Dallas and Boston in the finals. ... Now I want to go Dallas, Florida in the finals.

The Panthers made the Finals, but the Dallas Stars lost in the Western Conference Finals to the Vegas Golden Knights.

High taxes in Minnesota and Canada prevent their NHL teams from landing top free agents

My cool throne is Minnesota and Canada. The reason why they can't land good free agents to make their hockey teams good is because of taxes.

While taxes are a factor, things like the 'No-Movement Clause' and team success often outweigh them. However, many players do avoid high-tax areas.

The Stanley Cup Final will be Colorado vs. Florida and it will be the most electric ever

I think this is a year where the favorites get to the top. I think it's going to be Colorado and I think it's going to be Florida. And I think it will be the most electric Stanley Cup Final of all time... both of those teams are extremely fun to watch.

Colorado made it and won, but Florida was swept in the second round by Tampa Bay. The matchup did not happen.

The Winter Olympics ratings decline is due to a lack of NHL pros in hockey

The average total audience was 11.4 million viewers for the 2022. And that's a sharp decline... I'm convinced it's the hockey like it's, it's it's hockey, not having the pros and not having it as like a tentpole.

While viewership was at an all-time low, several factors contributed (timezone, Peacock streaming, COVID), making the NHL absence only one of many factors.

Florida and Colorado will meet in the Stanley Cup Final

Every time I go on a different show, I predict two different teams. Really sad veteran. Let's go with Florida and Colorado.

Colorado made the final and won the Cup. Florida had the best record in the league (Presidents' Trophy) but was swept in the second round by Tampa Bay.

The Montreal Canadiens aren't actually good, they just have a hot goalie

I think Montreal isn't good. They have an amazing goalie [Carey Price] who's hitting his stride at the right time... it's like they get goaltenders that get hot and then the magic of the Canadians jersey they end up winning games... the Canadiens will get into the probably final four and then just get shit pounded by Vegas or the Avalanche.

Partially correct. The Canadiens did reach the Final Four and then the Stanley Cup Finals, but they actually beat Vegas in the semi-finals before losing to Tampa Bay.

The 2021 Stanley Cup Final will be the Colorado Avalanche vs. the Tampa Bay Lightning

Colorado and Tampa in the finals. So Tampa will be going for it back to back. I would say Colorado, Tampa, and that would be good for hockey. Two Southern markets in the United States thriving.

Tampa Bay made the final (and won), but Colorado was eliminated in the second round by Vegas.

The 5-overtime NHL game was caused by bad ice in Toronto

I personally blame the blame the ice in Toronto for the 5:00 overtime game.

While the ice quality was a concern during the August bubble play, the 5OT length was primarily due to elite goaltending (Korpisalo's 85 saves).

My assumption is that [the St. Louis Blues] are going to get the job done. I picked Blues in six.

The 'Curse of Barry Trotz' will haunt the Capitals in the playoffs

Are you a little worried about the curse of Barry Trotz? Because I just decided there's a curse of Barry Trotz... where the team that fires him [gets punished]... now he's going to get his vengeance.

While the Caps lost in the first round in 2019, the 'curse' as defined by a matchup with Trotz's Islanders didn't happen until the 2020 playoffs, where the Islanders beat the Capitals.

Calgary and Winnipeg are the only Canadian teams with a realistic shot at winning the Stanley Cup

Calgary and Winnipeg are the only teams who have a shot. I don't think that Toronto's going to beat Boston first round.

Boston did beat Toronto in the first round. However, neither Calgary nor Winnipeg won the Stanley Cup (St. Louis did).

The Maple Leafs and Islanders will take the final two playoff spots in the East

I like the Leafs and the Islanders out of that [group]. The Leafs are really exciting. I think they'll get in. They got a great coach... and then the Islanders have just kind of turned things around with Doug Weight as their coach.

The Maple Leafs did make the playoffs in 2017, but the Islanders missed out by a single point, with the final spot going to the Maple Leafs and the Bruins.

The Ducks will play the Capitals in the 2018 Stanley Cup Final

I've got the Ducks and the Capitals. Ducks and Caps. And Ovechkin's not on the team anymore, by the way. Ovechkin's on the Ducks.

The Capitals did make (and win) the 2018 Stanley Cup Final, but the Ducks were eliminated in the first round by the Sharks. Ovechkin remained on the Capitals.

Ice is the great equalizer that allows for upsets in the NHL

It's because ice is the great equalizer. That's the X factor right there. Anytime you get people on slippery substances, you open the door for a big upset, which is why I love the NHL.

While ice parity is a real concept in hockey, the phrasing 'slippery substances' is purely comedic.
