The Commanders are back after the take down the Eagles on MNF (-). We talk some CFB as we head into the last 2 weeks of the season (-. Hot Seat/Cool Throne including the launch of Stella Blue Coffee (-). NFL Network’s Peter Schrager joins us in studio to talk about the NFL, his sources, Coach firings and tons more (-). 1 question with a Quarterback with Matt Ryan (-). And we finish with guys on chicks (-).

Peter Schrager on NFL Sources, MNF Recap, and Stella Blue Coffee Launch

The Washington Commanders are officially back, and PFT is walking on air after they handed the Philadelphia Eagles their first loss of the season on Monday Night Football. While the game ended on a somewhat controversial roughing the passer penalty involving Taylor Heineke, the story of the night was Washington’s ability to dominate the clock and keep Jalen Hurts off the field. PFT didn't waste any time calling the end of an era for the Commanders' former high-priced acquisition.

Taylor Heineke has officially ended Carson Wentz's time as the Commanders' starter

I'll tell you who's not back. Carson Wentz because this is Taylor Heineke's team right now. He's done.

Heineke remained the starter for most of the season until Wentz returned briefly at the end, but Wentz was indeed released after the season.

Big Cat, despite having money on the Eagles, actually thinks this loss might be the best thing for Philadelphia in the long run. The pressure of an undefeated season is gone, and they can focus on getting healthy before the playoffs. However, he does have one major concern regarding their ability to stop the run moving forward.

The Eagles are in big trouble defensively if Jordan Davis stays out

If Jordan Davis is out for the year, I'd be like, the Eagles are in big trouble because they can't, their defensive line has no bulk and they can't stop anyone.

Davis returned in Week 13. The Eagles' run defense struggled without him but improved upon his return and they signed veterans like Linval Joseph to address the bulk issue.

Speaking of the run game, PFT was mesmerized by Brian Robinson’s performance. The rookie back has a certain violent elegance to his game that fits the Commanders' new identity perfectly.

Brian Robinson's running style is electric because he actively seeks out contact

Brian Robinson got shot twice. They love saying that Brian Robinson got shot and the way that he runs is electric. He just, he runs directly into, he loves contact. He just, he picks a defensive tackle and he runs at the defensive tackle and he gets like three and a half, four yards every time.

Robinson's physical style became a staple of the Commanders' offense, though 'electric' is subjective.

Hot Seat/Cool Throne and the Birth of Stella Blue

Hot Seat/Cool Throne featured a massive milestone as Big Cat officially launched Stella Blue Coffee. It’s been a long time coming, and the guys have already been living on the light roast to get through the early morning recordings. On the darker side of the news, PFT put the entire crypto industry on the Hot Seat following the absolute collapse of FTX.

Sam Bankman-Fried is the latest Bernie Madoff

My hot seat is crypto in general. Sam Bankman-Fried from FTX is the latest Bernie Madoff right now. It's been in the news. He had I think about $40 billion and now he has $0 because his entire platform went bankrupt.

SBF was later convicted of multiple counts of fraud and conspiracy, confirming the comparison to high-profile financial scammers like Madoff.

Big Cat’s Cool Throne went to the Jordan family, specifically Marcus Jordan, for his rumored relationship with Larsa Pippen. It’s the kind of petty move that only the offspring of the GOAT could pull off, and Big Cat thinks he knows exactly who is pulling the strings.

The Marcus Jordan and Larsa Pippen relationship is MJ's final revenge on Scottie Pippen

I just imagined MJ being like, did you hear all that shit about Scottie saying that LeBron's better than me? Go hit up Larsa. Yeah, let's, let's start this relationship Dogs. That's tough.

While the relationship happened, attributing it to MJ's strategic planning is purely comedic speculation.

Peter Schrager in Studio

NFL Network’s Peter Schrager joined the guys in the studio to pull back the curtain on how NFL reporting actually works. Schrager is one of the few people who can navigate the world of high-level coaching sources while still being a genuine fan of the show. He touched on the Sean McVay retirement rumors, making it clear that the Rams coach isn't going to go out on a losing season.

Sean McVay is not leaving for TV and will return to coach the Rams next year

All the talk of him doing TV and all that shit, like he's in. This isn't how he's gonna be going down. He's at this crossroads of the season and his whole thing was like, I can't go out like this.

McVay did return to coach the Rams in 2023, confirming Schrager's insight.

When the conversation shifted to the 2021 Quarterback draft class, Schrager didn't hesitate to give Big Cat exactly what he wanted to hear regarding the future of the Chicago Bears' franchise.

Justin Fields should be the #1 pick in a re-draft of the 2021 quarterback class

I think Fields is one. Fields is one, but solely cost... and they're finally building the offense around him obviously.

Trevor Lawrence has generally had a more successful career to date, while Fields was eventually traded from the team that drafted him.

Schrager also looked ahead to the playoffs, warning everyone not to sleep on the defending AFC champions. While the spotlight has been on the Bills and Chiefs, the Bengals are lurking in the weeds with a healthy Joe Burrow.

I'm not done with the Bengals yet; they are a team no one will want to play in the playoffs

I'm not done with the Bengals. They're outta the playoff right now. I just think burrow's the real deal. And I think that team... they're coming out of [their bye]. I really do think that they're gonna be a team no one wants to play.

The Bengals went on an 8-game winning streak to end the season and reached the AFC Championship game.

Matt Ryan and Guys on Chicks

Matt Ryan joined the show for a quick "One Question with a Quarterback" segment to discuss his massive 39-yard scramble against the Raiders and the vibe in the locker room after Jeff Saturday took the reigns. Matt was a great sport about the 28-3 jokes and even turned the tables to ask Big Cat and PFT how their gambling weekend went. We wrapped things up with a high-stakes edition of Guys on Chicks, where PFT offered some chaotic advice for a listener dealing with too many exes reaching out at once.

The best way to handle multiple ex-hookups trying to slide back in is to invite them all to the same birthday party

You just gotta invite 'em all and see who hangs around the longest. It's kinda like in the reunion episodes of Love is Blind when they just get everybody in a bar together and get 'em drunk. They all just start fighting and one person will eventually go home with a person.

This is inherently subjective life advice, though objectively a recipe for disaster.

Losing the undefeated streak was the perfect outcome for the Eagles' season

I actually think that was the perfect way for the Eagles to get their first loss. Because you don't want to lose, but... they had a game that they basically had everything go wrong for them and still almost had a chance to win it at the end. Now you can just focus on cleaning up the things, the mistakes you made.

The Eagles finished 14-3 and made the Super Bowl, so the loss didn't derail their season and may have helped them refocus.

The Vikings will make the Super Bowl because the Commanders beat the Eagles

I'm just worried that the commander's beating the Eagles is going to make the Eagles lose home field advantage. It's gonna go to the Vikings and then the Vikings are gonna go to the Superbowl because the commanders beat the Eagles.

PredictionFootballHotSarcastic
The Vikings lost in the Wild Card round to the Giants, and the Eagles ended up keeping the #1 seed anyway.

The entire NFC East could realistically make the playoffs this year

The craziest part about this game too is that, you know, all the talks been about the AFC East being maybe getting all four teams in the NFC East could absolutely get all four teams in. The Beasts are back man. I'm not ruling out the commanders at five and five.

The Eagles, Cowboys, and Giants all made the playoffs. The Commanders finished 8-8-1 and narrowly missed out, making this partially correct.

There is no difference between what Steve Sarkisian has done at Texas and what Tom Herman did

There's no difference between what Sark has done so far at Texas and what Tom Herman had did. Actually, Tom Herman was better at this point. He beat more ranked teams, he went to a bowl.

Sarkisian eventually turned Texas around, making the CFP in 2023, surpassing Herman's peak. At the time of the take (2022), the stats were arguably in Herman's favor.

Lane Kiffin is looking to leave Ole Miss for the Auburn job

Lane Kiffin, his postgame press conference after Alabama. That sounds like a guy who wants to go to Auburn. Because he essentially was like, we were right there, I wish we had a few more dudes. And guess who could get a few more dudes? Auburn.

Kiffin remained at Ole Miss, signing a contract extension shortly after the season ended.

Trent Williams is tipping 49ers plays based on his pre-snap stance

Trent Williams, a tackle on the 49ers apparently might be tipping Pass or run plays by his stances. Some of the difficulties in the running game with Deebo Samuel specifically might be because of Trent Williams tipping off plays with his stance. Shout out that Twitter user, he went through the all 22 and found this tell.

While viral, many NFL analysts and even Williams himself later debunked the idea that it was a consistent or exploitable 'tell' that impacted the 49ers' success.

Tua Tagovailoa is a serious MVP candidate because voters are fatigued by Patrick Mahomes' greatness

I think they're all hungry for something new and a great new storyline. So I think Tua... they rally around it. Mahomes could conceivably win it every single year. And I don't think anyone would blink an eye. But people like new stories too.

Mahomes won the MVP in 2022 despite the fatigue narrative, as Tua's season was derailed by concussions.
