Marcus Mariota is the best backup quarterback in the NFL

I think [Marcus Mariota] is probably the best backup quarterback in the NFL. He was great last year. He was awesome against the Cowboys. And this is actually... for all the talk about Jayden [Daniels] possibly being injury prone, this is the first start that he will miss.

Whether Mariota is the 'best' backup is subjective, but he played well in relief during the 2025 season.

Kyler Murray's decision to post a photo with a pitbull and a Michael Vick jersey shows a lack of judgment

If your quarterback's making, if this is the judgment of your quarterback, that's a bad song. The decision making process is lacking.

While subjective, the backlash Murray faced and the subsequent deletion of the photo suggests many agreed it was a PR lapse.

The Bears-Cowboys matchup is a 'Gateway Game' specifically for how people view Caleb Williams as a quarterback

I think it might be a gateway game for your feelings about Caleb Williams as a quarterback... Because if they go 0-3, it's gonna be just full, like Caleb's gotta look good.

Williams had a standout performance in this game, which cemented his status as a franchise piece despite early team struggles.

The Chiefs aren't capable of blowing teams out right now because Patrick Mahomes lacks explosive weapons

I kind of like the Giants in this game. No, I don't think, I think the Chiefs are gonna win six points. I don't think the Chiefs can blow anyone out right now. Mahomes, you don't have enough guys.

The Chiefs famously played 11 straight one-score games during the 2025 season, making this take extremely accurate.

The minute a fat guy walks in and says, that's a dork. It sticks in my head. And now in my head it's Mike Vrabel versus Dork. I'm gonna take Mike Vrabel. It just feels like Mike Vrabel versus dork is a mismatch.

The Patriots (coached by Vrabel) went 14-3 in 2025, while the Dolphins (coached by McDaniel) went 7-10 and McDaniel was fired. Vrabel dominated their matchups.

Kyle Shanahan's gonna put a little extra mustard on it to be like, I'm not sleeping at all this week. I need to prove that Mac Jones was the guy and I should have picked Mac Jones and Mac Jones can be a really good starter in the NFL.

Mac Jones remained a backup and the 49ers eventually moved on, suggesting this 'redemption' arc didn't materialize.

CJ Abrams is the best Saber Metric pick in the Dingers Only draft because he leads off

Ideally you want your players to get as many opportunities to hit home runs as possible. Why not take a guy that hits lead off shortstop. CJ Abrams. He's gonna get like four more at bats than some of your guys' clowns.

While mathematically true that leadoff hitters get more ABs, it doesn't always translate to more HRs than middle-of-the-order sluggers.

Kyle Shanahan needs a Super Bowl so badly. It's, it's desperate. It's aged him. Have you seen the before and after? Yeah. It's like he's a president.

Returning punts is the scariest play in football because of the high risk of a game-changing turnover.

Returning punts is the scariest play in football for me. Because I feel that it has to be the highest percentage play of turnover. It's very easy to turn the ball over on a punt and it completely changes the game.

This is a subjective opinion on the 'scariest' play, though the turnover risk is a verifiable trend.

Lamar Jackson may struggle because he doesn't like the cold

Coldest game that Lamar Jackson's ever played. Guess what it was? 27. This is eight degrees is very different from 27. Lamar, in their earlier matchup this season, the temperature was like 60 and he was wearing a hoodie and a beanie for it. I don't know that Lamar loves the cold.

The Ravens lost to the Bills 25-27 in the Divisional Round on January 19, 2025, in cold weather in Buffalo. Lamar Jackson played decently (18-of-25, 254 yards, 2 TDs) but the Ravens lost partly due to turnovers and a dropped 2-point conversion. The cold may have been a factor but Jackson's individual stats were solid.

Dan Marino's 1984 season is an anomaly that deserves more respect

Dan Marino having 5,084 yards and 48 touchdowns in 1984 when the game was not a passing game is fucking insane. That's an insane statistical feat. Joe Burrow's having a career year and he still needs to do some work to get to what Dan Marino did. It's like more respect on Dan Marino.

The stats quoted for Marino's 1984 season are accurate and the comparison to modern passing volume is a widely accepted football analysis.
