The Houston Astros robbed the Yankees of a World Series title

I know that my Yankees got robbed. Then there's probably a lot of other teams that got robbed right? I mean, it's out there... Altuve got MVP when it should have been Judge. Yes extra Stripes. Yeah, I mean there's a lot of things that people have to you know, they've lost focus on.

I am taking the over on the Astros season win total because they'll get on base from HBPs

I want to find out what the what the line is on the amount of times that the Astros are going to get beaned this year. And I'm going to take the over on it no matter what... I might take the the season win total over for the Astros. Just on that alone.

The 2020 season was shortened to 60 games. The Astros finished 29-31, which was below many pre-season projections (though the season length makes 'over' takes tricky). They were plunked 21 times in 60 games, which paced toward a high number but wasn't a record.

Astros players will get beaned all year long

Not a single player is being held responsible... guess what? No one's going to forget about it and everyone's gonna get beaned this year and I'm excited.

In the shortened 60-game 2020 season, the Astros were hit by pitches 44 times, which was the 10th highest in the league. However, the lack of fans due to COVID may have mitigated some of the anticipated 'all-out' hostility.

Alex Bregman's comment about getting beaned will bite him during the 2020 season

Alex Bregman said his favorite unwritten rule is the rules that get you beaned with fastballs when you deserve it. So that sucks for Alex Bregman that he had that quote. That's a tough quote hate to see it to now have an entire career facing an entire season.

Alex Bregman was hit by 8 pitches in the shortened 2020 season, which was a high rate but not necessarily a career-high (he was hit 9 times in 155 games in 2019). However, he and the Astros faced significant hostility.

Jim Crane's apology somehow made the Astros' cheating scandal significantly worse

The Houston Astros have finally faced the media and I think they somehow made it significantly worse. They're all forgiven. This was a great apology. You trot Jose Altuve out there for 30 seconds... Jim Crane, the owner... said in his opinion, it didn't impact the game. Yes, they cheated, he admitted they cheated, but it didn't impact the game. Then, when asked whether it was crazy that he just said it didn't impact the game, he defiantly said, 'I didn't say that,' even though he said it 50 seconds earlier.

The apology was near-universally regarded as one of the worst PR moves in sports history.

I personally, it's crazy. It's stupid. And I know baseball purists will hate it. But from a fundamental level of making September more enjoyable, making a lot of markets still feel like they have a shot, having just more playoff baseball... and eliminating the one game playoff that always kind of feels like it screws someone over. I'm kind of in on this.

The MLB eventually expanded the playoffs to 12 teams (6 per league) in 2022, a variation of the 14-team proposal discussed here.
