Brooks Koepka on Ryder Cup Nerves and Chasing 12 Majors
The San Francisco 49ers officially look like a problem for the rest of the NFL. After watching them dismantle the Giants on Thursday night, Big Cat and PFT are ready to crown them as the clear powerhouse of the NFC. Brock Purdy continues to move the chains, and while Big Cat points out that throwing to guys who are wide open makes life easy, PFT is starting to believe the seventh-round pick is the real deal.
Brock Purdy is more than just a system quarterback
I still like Brock. I think he's better than just a system guy.
While the Niners are rolling, the Giants and Vikings are finding out that life is a lot harder when you aren't winning every single one-score game. Big Cat noted that the magic from last season has officially run out for the 2022 darlings.
The Giants and Vikings are suffering from a 'regression monster' after last season
Yikes. But that's also kind of what we expected when it comes to the regression monster that is biting the Vikings and the Giants right now from last year's incredible runs.
NFL Week 3 Preview and the Chicago Circus
Previewing the Week 3 slate led to an inevitable discussion about the dumpster fire currently burning in Chicago. Between defensive coordinators resigning via home-printed memos and Justin Fields trying to navigate coaching comments, the Bears are in a historic tailspin. Despite the chaos, Big Cat is somehow finding a way to talk himself back into his quarterback before they head to Arrowhead.
The Bears vs. Chiefs game will be a fun game because of the circus surrounding Chicago
Even for the Bears, this is record speed for them to become a complete and utter circus... I am back to believing in Justin Fields because I have no other option... this is a complete clown gong show... and I'm excited. Yeah. This is gonna be a fun game.
On the other side of that matchup, the internet's favorite obsession with Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift was addressed. PFT isn't buying the romance for a second, smelling a classic Kelce brothers media play from a mile away.
Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are not actually dating
I think that Travis Kelce is not actually dating Taylor Swift. I think that this is, listen, we've been in the podcast game for a long time. We know it does numbers. Jason Kelce's a very smart guy. I think him going on the air and saying the rumors are a hundred percent true... You don't say a hundred percent if your brother's dating Taylor Swift.
Further east, PFT is reaching dangerous levels of optimism regarding the Commanders. He’s convinced that a win over the Bills doesn't just mean a good start, it means they are legitimate contenders.
The Commanders are a Super Bowl team if they beat the Bills in Week 3
If they [Commanders] win this game, I'm almost thinking soupy [Super Bowl] Big Cat. That's how delusional I'm getting. Why not us?
Brooks Koepka in Studio
Fresh off a round of golf with the guys, Brooks Koepka joined the show to talk about the upcoming Ryder Cup and his career trajectory. For a guy who seems to have ice in his veins during Majors, Brooks admitted that the atmosphere on the first tee at the Ryder Cup is the most nervous he's ever been in his life.
It is a privilege to be nervous because it means there is expectation on you
I've heard that it's a privilege to be nervous. 'Cause it means that you put yourself in a situation where there's expectation on you.
He also didn't hold back on his long-term objectives. While most golfers would be thrilled with five Majors, Brooks has a much higher number in mind and feels like he's already let a few slip through his fingers.
I believe I can win 12 majors in my career
I feel like I can get to 12. I mean, think how many, I've already blown like... I feel like I should have nine right now.
Jersey Jerry also crashed the interview to ask the hard-hitting questions, including a deep dive into John Daly’s legacy and some very specific questions about Brooks' wife's footwear that left everyone in the room slightly uncomfortable.
Fantasy Lad Boys and Fyre Fest
The Fantasy Lad Boys returned with their usual mix of incomprehensible accents and questionable logic. PFT used the platform to defend the nutritional value of a specific Irish stout.
Guinness is a soup
Guinness is a soup. It's soup. Guinness. And it is a soup. It's barley soup.
To wrap things up, Hank’s Fyre Fest involved a battle with a frozen Trader Joe's meal that ended with a burnt finger and a deep realization that he might not be as much of an adult as he thought. PFT shared a story about an Uber driver who decided to drop him off at a random location just to hit his next pickup, proving once again that the commute to the office is never simple.
At least the weekend is here, even if the Bears are probably going to lose by thirty.
