Ezekiel Elliott has a chance to beat his suspension entirely
There's a chance [Ezekiel] Elliott beats this whole thing, not just this year, but this year, next year, and for good. Right now, it actually looks good for him to get an injunction that would allow him to play all season.
Tom Brady will retire suddenly to avoid having a farewell tour
Brady keeps saying that he's going to play four or five years so that he can then just retire all of a sudden? Yeah, he doesn't want to have a farewell tour. If [the Patriots] win another Super Bowl... is it going to shock anybody if he walks away?
The Patriots and Seahawks will meet in the Super Bowl
Right now, if I had to pick two teams for the Super Bowl, I'd say the Patriots and the Seahawks.
Jerry Jones is intentionally stalling Roger Goodell's contract to force him out by 2019
And there are some who think that what he's really trying to do is drive such a hard bargain with Roger Goodell that Goodell just eventually says, screw it, I'm out of here when my contract expires in 2019.
Jerry Jones is not as powerful among NFL owners as the media portrays
People think that Jerry Jones is very powerful, and I guess he is if you focus on different groups, like as it relates to the media... but as it relates to the other owners, I don't think he's as powerful as people think he is. And I think it's getting to a point where people just tune him out.
The Bears should start Mitch Trubisky now because the season is already lost
At some point, you just kind of say, screw it. You know, this season is lost, so let's just treat it like an extended preseason for next season.
Many NFL agents care more about their fees than the long-term health of their clients
I think a lot of agents, they just care about what their fee is going to be. They don't care about whether or not the guy is going to get jacked up playing for that team. All they care about is getting the maximum fee and having the maximum contract they can parade around out there.
The Bengals are the most likely 0-2 team to turn it around and make the playoffs
Out of those, I would say the Bengals... If they get Kaepernick, then put the Bengals in.
Jason Witten will retire after the 2017 season
I'm amazed [Witten] is still playing. But I have a feeling this year's it for him.
Tom Brady says he'll play until 45 to avoid a public farewell tour
I think he never wants his last year to be known as his last year. I don't think he ever wants to have a Derek Jeter farewell tour... by keeping that stake as far out into the future as possible, he'll never be in a season that anyone would say this is his last year.
LA fans will flock to Las Vegas to see the Raiders instead of supporting the Rams or Chargers
The Raiders are going to be closer than Oakland when they're in Las Vegas. And then they're really going to have a mess if all the people from Los Angeles are flocking to Vegas to see the Raiders play and not going to see the Rams or the Chargers.
Teddy Bridgewater will play for the Vikings before the 2017 season ends
I don't know what in the hell they're expecting at this point. So I think, yeah, we'll see Bridgewater before the end of the year on the field.
Tony Romo will try to get released by the Cowboys rather than traded
I expect that Tony Romo is going to try to get himself released... You guys decided to move on. I want to stay. I want to compete for the starting job. You won't let me. Why do you insist on trading me to another team? Now, how the Cowboys respond to that is going to be the big question because Jerry Jones has an asset under contract... I think he's going to try to get released.
Aaron Rodgers and the Packers have underachieved over the last six years
What we've seen the last eight games out of Aaron Rodgers makes me wonder, why in the hell haven't we seen that the last six years? Why are they continuously wanting out in the playoffs? Why do they continue to underachieve? Aaron Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the sport of football. How does he not already have more than one Super Bowl win?
The Seahawks will only get back to the Super Bowl if they can secure home-field advantage
That's the key, winning enough regular season games that people have to go to Seattle in the postseason. That's how they're going to get back to the Super Bowl if they ever do.
Jon Gruden and Peyton Manning were a package deal for the Colts
What I've been told is Peyton Manning and Jon Gruden have a very, very good relationship. They're very close... but it was a package deal of Peyton Manning and Jon Gruden. Gruden didn't want to do it.
Devin Hester is a Hall of Famer and will eventually get in
I think he is. Well, if any kicker or punter is worthy of getting in, Devin Hester is worthy of getting in, and I think he eventually will. Now, that doesn't mean he gets in on the first try, but I think eventually he's going to get in. You've got to find a spot for a guy who was transcendent in what he did in the return game.
The Bears will try to trade Jay Cutler this offseason
He's got a very tradable contract, $12.5 million. I think the Bears will try to trade him. Depends on how this coaching deal shakes out. If Kyle Shanahan ends up the head coach somewhere, I could see him being potentially interested in Cutler.
Rex Ryan will not get another chance as an NFL head coach
I don't think he will. How about at the college level? Wouldn't he be a very good college coach? I mean, could you see him recruit the hell out of guys? I think he's going to end up in TV, though. I'm not sure he's going to be as good as they think he's going to be, but I think he's going to end up in TV.
Jeff Fisher is finished as an NFL head coach but could bamboozle another owner into an interview
Guy's very connected at the league level. He's got good friends in the league office. He's a made man. He knows how to work the media. I think at some point he'll find a way where he at least gets an interview. And if he gets an interview with one of these guys... he could bamboozle someone into hiring him.
NFL ratings are down primarily because the prime time games have been poor
One reality is the games haven't been very good... You're going to have some crappy primetime games. But even Jaguars-Titans... the problem is, more often than not, the primetime games have been crap.
The NFL should adopt the college football overtime system to eliminate ties
I wouldn't have a problem with them ripping up the current overtime system and just going with the college approach. That works. The games are exciting. And I don't think anyone's ever complained that the college system is not a good system.
The Cowboys will stick with Dak Prescott as long as he continues to win games
If Dak Prescott continues to win games, then the decision is you roll with the hot hand... I think they are going to stick with Prescott as long as he keeps doing well.
Stephen Jones and Jason Garrett make the big decisions in Dallas while letting Jerry Jones be the face of the franchise
When it's time to make big decisions, it's Stephen Jones and Jason Garrett that make the decisions and they otherwise let Jerry think he's running the show.
The Vikings will eventually find a spectacular way to blow their season
I know what's going to happen. They're going to find a way to blow it, and maybe in a spectacular fashion... Either way, they're going to find a way to blow it. It's either going to be the offensive line that crumbles... or it's going to be Blair Walsh missing another field goal.
The NFL will move to an 18-game regular season within the next five years
There's a chance it will if the NFL makes enough concessions to the union... if there's a way that they can address that issue [player health]... it's going to happen.
Sam Bradford better simulates what Teddy Bridgewater would have done for the Vikings than Shaun Hill
Sam Bradford, the thinking is, I believe better simulates what Teddy would have done if he would have been able to play. I don't know that Bradford can get there... it's going to be an uphill climb, but when things settle down, they're going to be better off with Bradford than they would be with Hill.
The Rams being number three on the depth chart with the first overall pick Jared Goff is a bad sign for everyone
Number three on the depth chart is the first overall pick. That's not good for anybody. And I would say jokingly, back when the Rams picked [Jared] Goff, remember, these are the same people who thought Nick Foles was the answer a year ago. And what was once a joke, I think, is gradually becoming dead serious that maybe they've gotten it wrong two years in a row.
The Rams and 49ers fan bases will have the most fights per game now that the Rams are in LA
I think anybody who plays at the Coliseum, that's where the fights are going to be. And so that's one fan base right there... The more people you have, the greater the chance you're going to have a bunch of fights. And I don't know what it is about 49ers fans. They like to scrap. It's going to get ugly when they play in LA.
The Packers will beat the Ravens in the 2016 Super Bowl
I got Packers over Panthers in the NFC... Ravens over Patriots in AFC. It is the return of the Ravens in 2016. I got Ravens Packers in the Super Bowl with the Packers winning.
The Saints are my 2016 dark horse team because their defense can't get any worse
How about the Saints? ... Their defense can't be any worse than it's been. And, you know, Dennis Allen is now in charge of it. They got rid of Rob Ryan... I think the Saints would be a team that could surprise some people this year.
The Bears will struggle in 2016 without Adam Gase to manage Jay Cutler
I worry about how the offense is going to be without Adam Gase there to keep Jay Cutler from being Jay Cutler. And Matt Forte's gone. I think they're going to have a hard time.
Sam Bradford will not be the Eagles starting quarterback in 2016
I have a feeling [Sam Bradford] won't be [starting]. I know they're saying all the right things now and they can't declare to the world that he's not going to be the starter because what if the guy that they draft ultimately stinks. It wouldn't shock me if they find a way to unload him onto somebody who emerges from the draft without an answer.
Johnny Manziel will never start another five games in the NFL
I'll take under [five more starts] because even if he gets his act together, which first he has to have the epiphany. I just don't think anybody can ever trust him to be a starting quarterback or a backup quarterback.
Teddy Bridgewater would be better if Adrian Peterson wasn't on the Vikings
I developed a semi hot take that [Teddy Bridgewater] would be better off if Adrian Peterson wasn't on the team. I just think that when you have a running back that is one of the all time greats... I think you get to the point just psychologically where the other 10 guys are counting on Adrian Peterson, and they're not counting on the quarterback the way that other offenses count on their quarterback.
Jared Goff will be the first overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft
Oh, it's going to be Jared Goff. I believe it will be Jared Goff.
