The Washington Nationals might not be as terrible as originally thought

The Washington Nationals might not be as terrible as I thought that they might be. There you go... I'm gonna overreact a little bit, but I still think they're not gonna be very good. But it's good having young players that are playing well.

Outcome depends on the final MLB season results for the Nationals.

James Wood will be a monster this season and hit 35 plus home runs

The only thing I have to look forward to this season is James Wood just being a fucking monster and getting 35 plus home runs. That's the only thing that I'm going to this season looking forward to as a Nats fan.

James Wood is a high-upside prospect, but 35+ home runs for a rookie/young player is a significant mark.

I think Phillies are regressing. They'll still make the playoffs as a wild card team. They'll sneak in and then lose in the first round.

The Cubs are the second best team in the NL and will reach the NLCS

I think the Cubs are gonna be really fucking good. I think they're the second best team in the NL so I guess my expectations might be a little too high, but I think they're gonna be really, really good. I think they should definitely win the NL Central and be in the NLCS.

Predicting the Cubs to be the second-best team in the entire National League is a bold stance given the Dodgers and Braves.

Bryce Harper will return to being a beast this season after disrespect from his GM

Bryce Harper's been nothing but good. And Dave Dombrowski disrespecting him like that. Bryce has every right to be upset about that. ... I think he's gonna be a beast this year. He's gonna return to being a beast.

Depends on Harper's 2026 season stats.

Yeah, I do. Yeah, I do too... maybe I do have a chance. I would just need a couple ambulances. 'Cause after the games, I'm gonna have to like going to take care of my body.

This claim remains untested as A-Rod has not returned to professional baseball.

The impending MLB lockout will be the defining story of baseball next year

This is going to be the defining story of baseball next year. So hopefully people understand that this is gonna be a big deal... owners essentially lock players out, say you cannot report to work. And then it just becomes a staring contest.

The current CBA expires after the 2026 season; Passan is predicting a lockout-heavy 2026.

The Cincinnati Reds have an illegally flat pitching mound to gain an advantage

Cincinnati's tough. That mound is so flat. I know they're supposed to have regulations on how high the mound is, but whatever they're doing, they're cheating for sure. Because it's way lower. Our mound at home feels like a mountain compared to Cincinnati.

MLB mounds are strictly regulated at 10 inches, though perceptions of slopes can vary.

Dick Monfort promoting his son to COO is a classic case of nepotism that won't fix the Rockies

The Colorado, we, we've given a lot of shit to their owner. Dick Monfort piece of shit... And he promoted his oldest son. Oh. To be Chief Operating Officer... They're not content to, to mi away in the slums of mediocrity. They're gonna fix it out by just having his son do all the things he was gonna do.

I'm serious. Like I caught... so I'm really trying to convince them that I can catch. But yeah, probably for good reason, they don't, they don't really believe me.

The Pirates have not used Skenes as a catcher and are unlikely to do so given his immense value as a starter.

I now welcome on a very special guest in person. It is Atlanta Braves Allstar... I'll say this too. Future Hall of Famer Matt Olson. I was looking at the numbers and you, if you stay healthy, you're a future hall of famer.

Olson is on a strong career trajectory but is currently far from the counting stats required for the Hall of Fame. It will take another decade of elite play to resolve.

He's six foot seven... is it true that he runs like Tyreek Hill? He's so fast. And then he threw from shortstop to first base... 97 [mph].

If a pitcher ever dies on the mound, MLB will force pitchers to wear helmets and face contraptions

Well, so if a pitcher dies on the baseball mound, the game is going to like completely change. Right. They're going to make pitchers wear helmets and there may be even like some sort of weird face contraption. I don't know.

While no pitcher has died on the mound in MLB recently, the league did introduce optional protective headgear for pitchers in 2014, and some minor leaguers wear it.
