I will do 10 more years of Pardon My Take followed by another 10 after that

Here's to 10 more and then probably 10 more after that. Because what the... am I gonna do, this is the best thing in the world. We're going to ride it until we are the biggest old losers that everyone makes fun of.

This will take two decades to fully verify.

The show will perform a group porn if they make it to a 20-year anniversary

If we make it to 20, we will do a porn. A soft-core nine-way gang bang. Okie cookie.

It is highly unlikely they will follow through on this literal claim.

This has to be Al Michaels' last year

I do think this has to be Al Michaels' last year. Next year has to be. I would appreciate if Al Michaels would do a retirement tour. If he was like, this is it, I would not complain about him at all because he is a legend of the game.

Whether Al Michaels retires is pending.

Inside the NBA at ESPN will struggle to maintain its magic if they cut it for SportsCenter

The number one time on our show is after the game. You get like 4 to 5 minutes to shoot the shit. That's the magic. But me and Ernie have talked about it... Are they gonna say 'No guys, y'all got 15 minutes. We gotta go to SportsCenter'?

The transition to ESPN/ABC is scheduled for the 2025-26 season. We will have to see if the format changes.

Pardon My Take will continue until one of the hosts develops a debilitating drug habit

I forget if it was you who said it or or or me, but we said that this podcast will go until one of us develops a debilitating drug habit.

The show is still running and the hosts have not publicly developed such habits.

I will officially retire from broadcasting in two and a half years

Two and a half years, and then I'll be done. I won't be working, yeah. I won't. I'll be strictly Sandler movies and that's it.

The actual retirement date will be verifiable at the end of his current contract.

Pardon My Take will end in 21 years.

I'm gonna retire in 20 years. 20. You have 20 years of Pardon? My Take left... I kinda like walking away in 21 years... 30 total.

Only time will tell if PFT sticks to this 21-year timeline.

The Pardon My Take crew will attend the Gen Con Dungeons and Dragons convention in Indianapolis in August 2025

[Timm Woods]: The Indianapolis one is Gen Con. It is the biggest Dungeons and Dragons convention in the world. And if you guys were there, I could take you on the whole tour. [Big Cat]: When is it? [Timm Woods]: It is in August. [Big Cat]: 100% we're gonna do that. That sounds amazing.

This event takes place in August 2025; whether they actually attend remains to be seen.

I am taking a hiatus from breaking news because of the emotional toll of the Mike Babcock story

As far as my breaking stories and breaking news, I'm gonna probably take a hiatus for a few years after the emotional [toll]... it was a pretty nerve-wracking situation breaking that news.

This is a personal career decision that can be verified by observing if he breaks more major scandals in the following years.

When PMT eventually ends, we will do a massive cash-grab retirement tour

When we do end up hanging up the cleats, we're gonna do like a sellout like Aerosmith... and we're just gonna be like, yeah, we're gonna make like $20 million being washed up podcasters doing like one final tour... it would be a much more calculated landing the plane.

The show is still active, so this is a long-term prediction about their business strategy.

Pardon My Take is the fastest podcast in history to reach 1 billion downloads

We got to 1 billion without even hitting our 500th episode. ... Fastest to a billion. We're a fucking Rocket ship.

While the billion downloads is a verified Podtrack stat, 'fastest to a billion' is difficult to verify across all private podcast data, though they are certainly in the top tier.

Pardon My Take will likely end in 5 to 7 years

I would like to do this show for as long as we are still good at it. I could envision in my perfect brain five to seven years from now, we're like, 'Hey, we're really good, but you know, maybe we're fading a little.' And then we walk out on top. ... Once we get to like mid forties... it'll be like a reassessment.

Future prediction about the show's duration.

The NFL schedule release will eventually become a massive corporate primetime event with a bracket

At some point Roger Goodell is gonna do to the schedule release what he's done with the draft and just market the shit out of it and like take it on the road each year and turn it into like an hour long, two hour long primetime event where he just announces like one week's worth at a time... it's gonna be a massive fucking corporatized sensation.

The NFL has already turned it into a primetime TV special, though they haven't yet reached the 'traveling road show' level of the Draft.

Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith will reunite when LeBron James retires

Eventually they'll get back together. I actually think that they're going to get back together. When LeBron James retires, when he finally hangs up for good, they should do a reunion episode to debate his legacy.

LeBron James has not retired yet. Skip Bayless recently left FS1 (2024), making a reunion elsewhere more plausible than before.

The PLL will be a top six sport in North America within five years

The PLL will be a top six sport in North America. There's just so many... it's competitive now. I used to say like, we're always talking to the big four, but it'll be the top six... Someone's got to go. We're probably seven or eight [currently].

Five years from June 2022 is June 2027. Currently, PLL has seen growth but is still behind the 'Big 4' and likely MLS and UFC in terms of North American revenue and viewership.

The podcast industry will eventually die like magazines

Everything's going to die. Listen, whatever project you're working on, that thing is not going to exist in 100 years. I don't care who you are. So yeah, everything's going to die.

I have unfinished business with hosting a talk show and would do it again

Yeah, I feel like it's unfinished business. I haven't failed at a lot of stuff in my life... but that was like, man, that really left me disappointed in the result, maybe in myself, in the circumstances. Yeah, I'd like to do it. I had a show and a pilot I did with Rudd and with David Spade and with Molly Shannon for a late-night Fox show that never saw the light of day that I'm really proud of.

Buck has not yet returned to a high-profile comedic late-night show since this interview, though he continues to branch out beyond play-by-play.

Legalized gambling will eventually end the relationship with personal bookies

My first hot seat is your bookie... gambling is legal. I don't think anyone's going to lose their bookie overnight. I think it's going to be probably like a decade, but at some point the bookie relationship will be something of the past. And that's very sad.

This is currently trending as predicted; while some niche bookies exist, major apps have taken over the bulk of market share.

Editing Wikipedia for clients will be a high-paying job in twenty years

Editing Wikipedia pages is actually... That's going to be a very high-paying job if you have that skill set over the next 20 years. When was the last time you looked somebody up for an interview and dug deeper than their Wikipedia page?

Reputation management firms already offer this service, and Wikipedia editing remains a critical part of corporate PR, though 'Wikipedia salesman' isn't exactly a formal title.

Lacrosse will be a top-tier major sport within 10 to 15 years

Cool throne lacrosse. I might have been in two. I've been a little early. I said there's 30 years. It's looking more like 10 to 15... I mean, it's like the hottest thing. It's like number one thing on SportsCenter.

While lacrosse has grown, it remains a niche professional sport compared to the 'Big 4' in 2024. The 15-year window closes in 2032.

Vince Scully is in his 67th and final year here. Subtract about 30 years from that. And then, yeah, so we're like in the upper 30s... I may just go do something else.

As of 2024, Buck is still active and recently signed a major deal with ESPN, but he is nearing the 'upper 30s' of years in his career.
