Tony Romo is a wildly overrated broadcaster

We've never been more right. About anything in the history of this podcast than we are about Tony Romo. America has finally come around to what we were getting made fun of four or five years ago. I just think he's wildly overrated... The guy is too much on a broadcast. He doesn't let it breathe.

Broadcaster quality is subjective, though public sentiment did shift significantly against Romo in the following years.

The Chiefs missed their window to be a dominant dynasty

When you start to lose a lot or you don't win what you're expected to. When I get there, like what you were saying, they're going to, they're not going to be the same dominant chiefs for over and over and over and over and over again, they have to change. Like they're missing their window. Their window missed.

The Chiefs won the Super Bowl the very next season (2022), repeated in 2023, and made a third straight appearance in 2024 (losing to the Eagles). Their window was wide open.

Cooper Kupp is the best wide receiver in the NFL right now. I mean, I know that there's guys that you can throw in there, but his ability to make like every catch every single way and like all the big catches—he was incredible.

Kupp won the Triple Crown (yards, catches, TDs) and Super Bowl MVP in 2021, arguably cementing this as correct for that specific window.

The Rams' 'all-in' strategy was the correct move regardless of the Super Bowl outcome

The Rams went all in... and it paid off because you're going to a Super Bowl. You're 60 minutes away from a flag fly forever moment. So like, you can't say that this was the wrong strategy. I love when teams go all in. I love when teams are like, 'fuck this, winning a championship means everything.'

The Rams won the Super Bowl, making the strategy undeniably successful in hindsight.

Jimmy Garoppolo is 'not a dog'

We learned a couple of things today. One Jimmy G, I don't think he's a dog. I, I think we can conclusively say that Jimmy G not a dog. He had a chance at the end of the game on those last two drives... and they had two just terrible, terrible drives at the end.

Garoppolo's 'dog' status is subjective, though his failure to win big games as a starter became a common narrative.

Kyle Shanahan has a psychological issue with holding 4th quarter leads in big games

Kyle Shanahan now... there's enough evidence out there to say something is up with Kyle Shanahan late in games. So the last four times... where a team has blown a double digit lead in the fourth quarter, Kyle Shanahan has been part of three out of four of those... something happens. He panicked.

At the time of the take, the stats were accurate. Shanahan later blew another double-digit lead in Super Bowl LVIII to the Chiefs.

Tom Brady is leaving two or three high-level years on the table by retiring now

It's crazy to think about that a guy is retiring at 44 from quarterback in the NFL and you can reasonably make the argument that he left two or three years on the table. Like, he probably could have played for two or three more years... he never declined. He literally outlasted the cliff.

Brady did return and play another season (2022) at a high level, proving he still had gas in the tank.

NFL teams are over-relying on analytics and should prioritize taking points with field goals to build momentum
