The Penn State firing of James Franklin was necessary

James Franklin fired Penn State... You had to because Ir because they're gonna have to recruit and get, like, you can't fire your coach... where's he gonna get drafted? I don't, I don't know. He should've left late. He's gonna, he would've been a first round pick if he went last year.

James Franklin was not actually fired in 2024 or 2025; this was a hypothetical or a reaction to a rumor that did not result in a firing.

The Sherrone Moore NCAA text deletion scandal won't be a big deal in a week

He [Sherrone Moore] deleted a couple text messages in regard to Connor Stalions and his possible knowledge on the situation... 52 text messages... I don't think anyone's gonna talk about this in a week from now.

The news did remain a major talking point throughout the 2024 season and into the release of the Stalions documentary, so it didn't disappear in a week.

Stetson Bennett's arrest for public intoxication makes him a better NFL draft prospect

Honestly that made Stetson Bennett go up in my draft board. ... If you're Stetson Bennett, what's stopping you from just getting absolutely hammered? He's in the middle of maybe the biggest case of senioritis of all time. And it's well deserved.

Bennett was drafted in the 4th round by the Rams. It's unlikely an arrest actually helped his draft stock with real NFL GMs.

If James Madison finishes undefeated, I am declaring them National Champions

If we do go undefeated, I'm going to declare that to be a national championship. Have to. First year five games into playing an actual FBS schedule and James Madison is now ranked 25 in the nation. My hands are tied.

JMU did not finish undefeated, losing to Georgia Southern later in October 2022.

Alabama will beat Georgia 30-21 in the National Championship

The final score was 30 to 21, Alabama. So I'm going to bet that exact same. I'm going to bet that kind of the spread at an alternate line... I feel good about it. I don't know if I can trust my own brain sometimes, but I feel like when I turned my brain off, that's when I do my best thing.

Georgia won the game 33-18. PFT's dream was incorrect on both the winner and the score.

Cincinnati can give Alabama a good game in the playoffs because of their secondary

I'm actually already going to do it again because I actually think Cincinnati could give Alabama a good game because their secondary is that fucking good. And they have a quarterback that is like, just doesn't let anyone catch anything.

Alabama dominated Cincinnati 27-6 in the Cotton Bowl semifinal.

Coach Ed Orgeron will return as a 'full-time interim coach' for hire

Next time any program needs an interim head coach, he should be interim for hire. He should be a full-time interim coach.

PredictionCFBMediumSarcastic
Orgeron effectively retired from coaching after LSU and did not take any interim roles.

Florida QB Anthony Richardson is Cam Newton 2.0 and a 2022 Heisman candidate

Florida's quarterback that they put in second [Anthony Richardson] is Cam Newton 2.0, yes. He's on my big board for Heisman next year.

Richardson did not win the Heisman and had a volatile collegiate career, though his physical profile did lead to him being the #4 overall pick in the NFL draft.

Rutgers football is officially back

Rutgers football's back... back all the way. Greg Schiano, they've got a big test against Michigan this week. Birthplace of college football.

Rutgers lost to Michigan the following week and finished 5-8.

The Jim Harbaugh era at Michigan is officially over

The knives are back out for Jim Harbaugh... I just all I'm saying is I think it's over. I really do. 24 and a half Point favorites against Michigan State... and they lose like that... I think this is actually might be close to the end for Harbaugh.

This is one of the most famously wrong takes in PMT history. Harbaugh stayed, took a pay cut, and eventually won a National Championship in 2023.

The Miami Hurricanes are officially back because of Ed Reed and the Super Bowl

Either way, the U's back. Danny Boy Cane's got them covered... Recruits see that night game at Hard Rock Cafe Stadium in Miami Gardens, and they think the U might be back.

Miami has not returned to national prominence since this take, generally remaining a middle-of-the-pack ACC team.

Michigan will beat Ohio State

I think Michigan will beat Ohio State. I'm not going to say they are going to beat Ohio State... I think it's going to be a more competitive game than people thought a month ago.

Ohio State crushed Michigan 56-27 on November 30, 2019.

Urban Meyer is the leading rumor for the Florida State job

Coaching search season is back because Willie Taggart got the axe at Florida State and now people are speculating that they're going to throw a bag at Urban Meyer, who's waiting only for the USC job or the Notre Dame job to open up.

Urban Meyer did not take the Florida State job; Mike Norvell was hired instead.

Nick Saban stays on top because he has a factory where he personally shits out new players

I think Nick Saban personally shits players out. Because he chews them out in practice, and then he digests them for a while, and he takes a crap, and boom, I got a linebacker. ... I'd be like, yes, Nick Saban has a factory where he shits players out.

OpinionCFBScorchingSarcastic
Biologically impossible, though Saban's ability to replace talent is legendary.

Wisconsin will beat Ohio State in the Big Ten Championship

I think Wisconsin could beat Ohio State. I really do. Halftime of the Michigan game, I was like, oh, fuck, but Wisconsin put it on them in the second half, and I was like, this defense can play with... hey, defense travels. I'm there. I'm going to enjoy these next two weeks where I'm like, it's just one game to get to the playoffs.

Ohio State beat Wisconsin 27-21 in the 2017 Big Ten Championship.

The Miami Hurricanes are officially back

As a team, Miami is officially, officially back. Now, Hank said it last week. The U. But they are now back.

Miami lost their final three games of the season (Pitt, Clemson, Wisconsin) and haven't returned to that level of national relevance consistently since, showing they weren't truly 'back'.

Coach Ed Orgeron was never on the hot seat at LSU

I'm staying resolute in my support of Coach O. I don't think he was ever on the hot seat. Don't think he's ever going to be on the hot seat.

Orgeron was famously on the hot seat multiple times and was eventually reached a mutual separation with LSU in 2021, despite winning a title.

Alabama's second string could win the SEC

Alabama debates are back... could Alabama's second team win the SEC? Because they're deep. Real deep... the Hawaiian quarterback [Tua Tagovailoa], the second string, it would be unbelievable.

While Alabama's roster was historically deep, no second-string team could realistically win a major conference.

Chip Kelly will leave the San Francisco 49ers for the Oregon head coaching job.

So Chip Kelly rumors are back, and I think he's going to go to Oregon. Then again, he did say he's not interested in it, and as we know, as Nick Saban proved to us... if a coach in the NFL says they're not going to college, that means they're not going to college.

Chip Kelly stayed with the 49ers through the end of the 2016 season and then took a year off before joining UCLA in 2017. He did not return to Oregon in 2016/17.

Oregon will be back on top of college football in four years when Chip Kelly returns

I'm going to call my shot. I'm going to say Oregon's going to win. If we can do like four years to call who's back, in four years Oregon's going to be back to being back. ... When they get Chip Kelly back, right?

Chip Kelly became the head coach of UCLA in 2018, not Oregon. Oregon did eventually return to relevance under Mario Cristobal, but the Chip Kelly part was wrong.

Texas is back

I'm going to ask the question right now. Is Texas back? Texas is back. I think Texas is back. I mean, it was a statement win. Charlie Strong, he needed a statement win, right? Now he's back.

Texas finished the 2016 season 5-7 and Charlie Strong was fired. They were definitively not back.
