Billionaires should pay for their own stadiums

The Bills are getting a $1.4 billion new stadium. It's going to be right next to their old stadium, all paid for by the public... Billionaires should pay for their own fucking stadium.

The Buffalo Bills stadium deal eventually involved $850 million in public funding, a record at the time, confirming Hank's point about public footed bills.

Duke will beat Kentucky and Tennessee to win the 2022 National Championship

They sound Michigan state takes on Yukon, takes down Kentucky and then beat [Tennessee] for the, for the championship. ... I did strategically fill out most cons and bracket in terms of content that I desire.

The Celtics are legitimate contenders to win the Eastern Conference

Celtics are back. They had some trouble early in the year... they have fully figured it out. Their defense is unbelievable. I think right now they're second in the league defensively. Beginning of the year, I didn't think that the Celtics had a shot to win the East. Now I do.

The Celtics won the Eastern Conference in 2022 and reached the NBA Finals.

The Sixers will be favored in a playoff series against the Celtics

The Sixers will be favored in a playoff series, but it would be exciting cause... you versus Sixers would be all time.

The teams did not meet in the 2022 playoffs. The Celtics beat the Nets, Bucks, and Heat, while the Sixers lost to the Heat.

I am a phonetic reader, so Jakob Poeltl's name is Jacob Puddle

We've learned on the show—I am a phonetic reader. Jacob Puddle. I said Yaka Pearl. I'm seeing Yaka Patil. Either way, he told me her name.

The joke is correct about Hank's reading style, but 'Jacob Puddle' is obviously not the correct pronunciation of Jakob Poeltl.

Tommy Tanks is the main attraction of college baseball

Tommy Tanks he's on NC state. I believe it's seven home runs in his first nine... he's kind of the main story, the main attraction of college baseball this year with no [MLB] baseball going on, it's getting even more heightened coverage.

Tommy White became a national sensation in college baseball in early 2022 due to his incredible home run rate.

The Winter Olympics ratings decline is due to a lack of NHL pros in hockey

The average total audience was 11.4 million viewers for the 2022. And that's a sharp decline... I'm convinced it's the hockey like it's, it's it's hockey, not having the pros and not having it as like a tentpole.

While viewership was at an all-time low, several factors contributed (timezone, Peacock streaming, COVID), making the NHL absence only one of many factors.

The Waste Management Open is the best sporting event crowd scene in the world

Waste management opening was this weekend. One of the best, I think sporting event, crowd scenes, that I've never been to that looks so, so, so much fun... you know, I went to showers, beers, throw beers, have to delay and clean them all up. It looks unbelievable.

The Waste Management Open is widely recognized as the most rowdy and unique crowd experience in professional golf.

Losing to a former assistant in the Super Bowl is a worse legacy stain than losing to Bill Belichick

Losing to your assistant in your second Super Bowl, when it's his first Super Bowl, that is way worse and that will be the reason why the narrative is there. It won't have anything to do with Belichick or the Patriots... if [Sean McVay] loses this game and loses to his former assistant, that's a much harder pill to swallow.

McVay won the game, so the hypothetical 'can't win the big one' label was avoided.

Lock of the Decade: The opening kickoff of Super Bowl 56 will result in a touchback

This is the lock prop of the century. I don't know how this was my decade literally. I can't comprehend it... opening kickoff to result in a touchback minus 112. I love it. The Bengals win the flip, kick fearsome is going to kick it like out of the stadium.

The opening kickoff of Super Bowl 56 by Evan McPherson was indeed a touchback.

The MLB season will inevitably be delayed due to lack of progress in labor meetings

The MLB and the Major League Baseball Players Association made little progress in their latest meeting, and a delay to the upcoming season feels inevitable.

The Chiefs missed their window to be a dominant dynasty

When you start to lose a lot or you don't win what you're expected to. When I get there, like what you were saying, they're going to, they're not going to be the same dominant chiefs for over and over and over and over and over again, they have to change. Like they're missing their window. Their window missed.

The Chiefs won the Super Bowl the very next season (2022), repeated in 2023, and made a third straight appearance in 2024 (losing to the Eagles). Their window was wide open.

I don't believe the United States will ever be good at soccer

I just don't believe that we will win. It's that simple... I wish we were good at soccer. We're not. And I'm not gonna pretend like soccer matters in this country when it doesn't.

The USMNT has struggled to achieve top-tier global status, though they did qualify for and reach the knockouts of the 2022 World Cup.

Tom Brady is going to retire after this season

Tom Brady, Tom vs. Time... for my personal takeaway, it seems like he's gone. She [Gisele] deserves what she needs from me as a husband and my kids deserve what they need from me as a dad... from right now where I stand, I feel like he's gonna walk.

Brady announced his retirement on Feb 1, 2022, less than a week after this episode.

If a wide receiver touches the ball, he is responsible for catching it

Anytime it barely grazes wide receivers' fingers, Hank will be like, well, I thought it was, if you touch it, you can catch it... just because he touches it doesn't mean you can catch it... [Hank]: Millions of dollars. He gets paid millions of dollars to make that catch.

Physically and technically, a fingertip touch on an off-target pass is not a reasonable catch expectation, as Marshall explains.

Tom Brady has as many NFC playoff wins as Aaron Rodgers

Tom Brady... has just as many NFC playoff wins [as Aaron Rodgers].

At the time, Brady had 4 NFC playoff wins (all from the 2020 Super Bowl run). Rodgers had 11 career playoff wins, but only 5 of those were NFC Championship/Division/Wild Card wins since Brady joined the NFC. Hank is technically referring to NFC Championship wins/success, where they were tied at 1 ring each.

The Bills will win the AFC East for the next 10 to 15 years

There's no reason why [the Bills] shouldn't be beating the Patriots for the next 10, 15 years... those days are over. The Bills, you know, they have the East for now and we'll just see. Now we're back to being the underdogs.

Jerod Mayo's fucked with his interviews now. Imagine being... he's got some interviews this week. That's going to be a tough one to walk into and be like, 'Hey, you just gave up 47 points'. It's not a good look for him.

Despite the loss, Mayo remained a top candidate and was eventually named the successor to Bill Belichick, becoming the Patriots' head coach in 2024.

I've never been more ready for anything in my life... why wait? You know, the bills are the better team they're favored all that shit. They're at home, but this is what you want. Why run? Why not just face it head on.

The Patriots were absolutely demolished by the Bills 47-17 in the Wild Card round, making this confidence look misplaced.

Expectations for a rookie QB to go deep in the playoffs are delusional

I don't think anyone that expected a rookie quarterback to take your team deep in the playoffs is delusional... If we're having this conversation in four years, like I do compare it to Josh Allen... It takes time. It's a progression. If Mack Jones is still where he's at today in four years, then we can have this conversation.

Mac Jones and the Patriots were blown out in the Wild Card round. Four years later, he was no longer the starter for the Patriots.

I'm done with fourth downs; teams should just take the points

I said this in the group text earlier that I'm done with fourth downs. Every other single coach just goes for every single fourth and like three from the first quarter, second quarter, third quarter, fourth quarter... just give up points, give up points, give up points, not get the fourth down conversions and then lose the game by one. When, if they had just kicked field, they probably easily could have won that game. I'm full, wholeheartedly on the, just, just get points where you can get points team from now on.

This is an ongoing philosophical debate in football that cannot be definitively resolved.

On week 18 they're flexing two games Saturday night with playoff implications... I think they'll do one AFC North prime time game Saturday, one Sunday, if I had to guess... the AFC North is going to be the division that, yeah. It all it's going to be decided.

In 2021, the NFL did flex two Saturday games (Chiefs-Broncos and Cowboys-Eagles), but the AFC North (Bengals-Browns) remained on Sunday. The division was decided in Week 17/18, but the flexes weren't specifically AFC North teams.

Robert Kraft bought a Call of Duty team... everyone says that buying these roster spots is a waste of money... I would have agreed with them until Robert Kraft bought the top spot. Now genius investment.

I am finally willing to admit that weather and wind exist in football
